From Advent to Epiphany

Fr. Patrick Troadec, SSPX

SKU: 8723  |  ISBN: 9781937843991

Christmas is the season of joy and peace with a charm all its own. Yet, If we are to receive everything that the Christ Child comes to give, a spiritual preparation is necessary.

This bestselling book by Fr. Troadec, offers you a daily liturgical meditation from the beginning of Advent to the Baptism of Jesus, richly supplemented with prayers, thoughts and resolutions. A great resource for the start of the Liturgical Year.

The first days of Advent call to mind the return of Christ at the end of time and the long period of waiting that led up to His first coming at Christmas. The strong words of St. John the Baptist and the eloquent silence of Mary will help us open our hearts to the Infant of Bethlehem, who desires to be born anew each year in our souls. After the Nativity, the reader's glance is directed toward the manger and the Holy Family where the shepherds and the Magi invite the soul to adoration.

The reader is then led through the richness of the feasts from Advent to the Epiphany, inviting him to live each day with Jesus and for Jesus.

great reflections but a little big

I really enjoy this book. The daily reflections are great and I can't wait for the rest of the year to become available. However, I find it a little large for a book of reflections. One of my friends has the original french versions and they are more pocket size and therefore more portable. I was kind of hoping the English editions to be the same. This is a little more the size of a regular soft cover book. It's not a huge inconvenience, but I just prefer my daily meditation books to be a bit smaller for better portability to mass, etc.

Excellent daily meditation

I was fortunate to receive this book as a gift from Angelus Press for attending the Life conference in autumn.

This book is easy to follow, and well-labeled for each day from the first day of Advent, through the Baptism of Our Lord.

Each day only takes about 5 - 10 minutes to read, but the daily change in mindset (keeping God much more top of mind) is quite noticeable. Even more remarkable is the progress I noticed over the course of the book, in my own dedication to the Faith and my relationship with Our Lord.

I recommend this short book for anyone who wants to better focus on the true meaning of Christmas in the face of the modern culture of Consumerism, Modernism, and atheism.

I already look forward to using this good tool next Christmas.
