"To all those that received Him, who believed in His name, He gave power to become children of God." (John 1:12)
To believe in His Name... Christ, the Son of God.
If we truly believe in His name we should want to love Him for the sheer sake of His excellence. He truly Is all. If we believe this then adoration should come naturally in profound recognition of His infinite power. Thanksgiving should become a permanent disposition of our soul in light of the gifts that we have received. We should also, in realizing that Christ is the source of all things, turn to Him in petition for all that we need. The final result of recognizing Christ as God, is penance. The acts that we perform to expiate the punishment we have earned, should become daily and be freely and willfully given. These four things Adoration, Thanksgiving, Petition and Penance or Expiation all flow from the intellectual realization of who Christ actually is. This is the babe who is coming in a few short days into our hearts and homes. God made man.
