Liturgical Year 15-Volume PB

Dom Prosper Gueranger, O.S.B.

SKU: 5801  |  ISBN: 1930278039

A 15-volume treasury of Catholic theology, history, hagiography, and apologetics, originally published in the 1840's. Long out of print, this classic work of the holy abbot Dom Gueranger on the Roman Liturgy is available again.

A personal friend of Louis Veuillot, Cardinal Pie, and Pope Pius IX and staunch defender of the Papacy as well as the Roman Liturgy, Dom Gueranger has written a work that some have called the Summa of the liturgy. Essential for every Catholic who loves the ancient liturgy and the life of prayer.

Pope Pius IX, in his eulogy of Dom Gueranger, credited him with three great accomplishments: the revival of the monastic tradition in France, restoration of the Roman Liturgy and Gregorian Chant, and the theological justification for two dogmatic definitions, that of the Immaculate Conception and the infallibility of the Roman Pontiff.

I, too, agree with Stephen's comments.

Earlier this year, I bought this 15-volume set for myself, and also a set for friends in Australia. We are all pleased with these writings, and especially the explanations of the Liturgical Year. The lives of the Saints are very heartwarming, too! It is amazing to me that so much of what was written by Dom Prosper Gueranger so long ago focuses on and pertains to the same problems we seem to be encountering in the Catholic Church of today. But, then, we know Christ and His Mystical Body, of which we are members, will always suffer persecution, but will be with us until the end of time.

A treasure that should adorn every Catholic home.

A complete and comprehensive examination of every season of the liturgical year including comprehensive biographies of Saints from Guerrangre and the Breviary, full historical and cultural explanations of each liturgical period, a multitude de of prayers of the Church from ancient sources including Ambtosian, Mozarbic, Greek, Gallic rites. In fact this 15 volume set has almost everything, including a full and detailed step by step explanation of Holy Mass. You could not be disappointed with the content in this set.
