If you want to be strong and of good courage, be sure that you care less about death than about shame.

Battles - Honor - Miracles!

This book is filled with amazing stories of little-known Catholic heroes presenting spectacles of bravery and valor never exceeded in all the annals of history. Demonstrating his gallantry through daring feats of arms, the knight's faith, coupled with his marvelous courage, made him nearly invincible on the field of battle. Built around a stirring chronicle of the Knights of St. John, these inspiring accounts bring to life Catholic heroes who fought with courage, chivalry, and an unwavering trust in God to protect their neighbor, their country, and their Faith.

"You must in no way indulge in too great fondness for pampering your body, for love of that is the worst kind of love there is. But instead direct your love toward the preservation of your soul and your honor, which last longer than does the body."

- Geoffroi de Charny, a 14th century knight and author of The Book of Chivalry

Defenders of Christendom

Excellent read, and very inspiring. Every page is filled with an historical accounting, helping one to grow in awareness of these incredibly bold, brave warriors of the Faith, and encouraging one to follow their saintly example when put to the test. Already looking forward to reading more of James Fitzhenry's books.

Hidden history revealed.

This is without a shadow of doubt, the best book I've ever read (besides the Bible).
I am amazed not only about the staggering heroism, the betrayal, the miracles of these brave knights, but also how such a history is not taught in every school.
It must be indicative of the downfall of our civilization that such information has become so obscured.

If you want your sons to grow into chivalrous, brave, and knightly young men, "Defenders of Chris...

I don't think any teenage boy could possibly read it without being inspired to become like the saintly warriors portrayed in the stories, who gave everything, every drop of their blood and sweat, to fight and die for God's glory. Just reading it makes you want to grab a sword and go and die for Christ!
