James Fitzhenry

SKU: 8275  |  ISBN: 9780979630101

An inspiring new biography of the extraordinary "Knight of Vivar" chosen by God to save his nation from Islam. Known as El Cid, Rodrigo Diaz is a legendary hero who is directly relevant to modern times. Exiled by his king, insulted and maligned by those who should have supported him, he selflessly fought against seemingly insurmountable odds to save Christian Spain.

An example of what can be achieved through devotion to duty, prayer, and trust in God. For ages 12 and older!

Great book, well written and easy to read.

The author captures your attention and keeps you wanting to learn more about this noble Knight who lost his King and was forced to set out and build his own force to regain Christendom. I'm sorry the book had to end.

This is a very inspiring book, and the hero, Rodrigo Diaz, is a good example for our children.

Fitzhenry's other books, St. Fernando III and Defenders of Christendom, also available at Angelus Press, are very good, too.

Excellent reading, especially for adolescent boys.

There are so many books about El Cid and it's hard to know which ones to read, but this one pretty much tops the list. The writer obviously did a lot of research, but more than that, he portrays El Cid as a Catholic who deeply loved God. He didn't just do these things for his country, but ultimately for his faith and for God's kingdom. This is a very inspiring book and could do a lot of good for boys to read.
