On the Sacred Liturgy
A reprimand to innovators. Nature of Liturgy, especially the Mass. Eucharistic worship. Divine Office and Liturgical Year. Pastoral directives. Many novelties of the Novus Ordo are specifically condemned in this encyclical!
80 pp.
This copy was given to a friend who is a convert and choir director in the novus ordo. There are several other books by Angelus Press on the liturgical revolution but this comes from a Pope highly respected for his scholarship. The innovators were active for a long time before Vatican II with a demonstration of the novus ordo taking place in 1948. This encyclical condemns: the vernacular, the tabernacle taken from the altar, the altar in the form of a table, and antiquarianism, or the attempt to return the liturgy to its most ancient form (a reason heard again and again after Vatican II.). This is a refutation of the novelties based upon the authority of Pope Pius XII and it holds much weight for all who are honest.
