Exceptional Bible

I went out on a limb on purchasing this Bible, because reviews are a bit scarce online for this edition. But I figured if Angelus Press endorses it, it must be a quality product, and I was pleasantly surprised.

The content is unquestionably superb, of course. The Douay-Rheims is the go-to translation of Sacred Scripture for traditional Catholics, and if you don't own a copy, please consider getting one. This edition is a facsimile, so its basically a (exceptionally) high quality scan of the 1914 edition from P.J. Kenedy & Sons, which is a revered publication. This includes Bishop Challoner's wonderful notes found in the 1914 edition. It also features occasional illustrations depicting various Biblical events that are quite gorgeous.

This Bible is about 8 1/4 inches tall, 2 inches thick, and is quite heavy! It feels expensive! The binding is sewn and rock solid, with a sturdy black leatherette hardcover, and a St. Benedict medal embossed on the front and back cover. The paper is a slightly off white shade, and thicker than typical Bible paper, enough for the text to not be visible from the other side. The text is relatively large and bold, so no reading glasses needed.

This Bible is truly heirloom quality, which is surprising for the price! I have a number of editions of the Douay-Rheims, and I gotta say, this is the best. Get it while you can, because it seems this Lepanto Press edition is getting scarce!

Thank you, Angelus Press for carrying this gem! Order more please!

Beautiful Bible

I bought this Bible because of the accuracy of the translation, as well as the fact that it is so similar to the one my holy grandmother used to read. This Bible is well-made and the font is crisp and easy on the eyes. It is the perfect size and comfortable to hold. The illustrations are an added bonus. Finally, I am impressed with the care taken by whomever packaged this treasure. It was wrapped delicately in paper and secured in the box, so as to avoid any damage from shipping. It is so unlike many modern bibles that are mass-produced these days. It has that “traditional” feel, if that makes any sense. I highly recommend this beautiful bible.
